Matilde Rabiña Barreto, Ballet Teacher/Director

Ms. Barreto has over three decades of teaching experience. A graduate of the world famous Alonso Ballet School in Cuba Ms. Barreto danced as a member of the National Ballet of Cuba; was Awarded Tampa’s 1999 Hispanic Woman of the Year in the Arts; was jury member of the 2000 Ballet competitions of the Nat’l Soc. Of Arts and Letters–Tampa Bay Chapter; and featured on “What’s Right in Tampa Bay” by Fox 13 News for the year 2003. Has been adjunct faculty of the Univ. of South Florida Dance Department. She is a Board Member on Curriculum of the Classical Ballet Program at the Patel Conservatory; and is a member of Dance Master of America, Florida Dance Assoc., and Hispanic Professional Women’s Assoc.
Sheila Anne Hurtt, Ballet & Modern Dance Teacher
Sheila Anne Hurtt originally from New Jersey started dancing at the age of 3 at the
Woodbridge Theatre of Performing Arts. At the age of 12 she moved to Miami where she
studied at the Miami Conservatory and was a member of the Miami Ballet under the direction
of Thomas Armour. She is a member of the first graduating class of the New World School of
the Arts and holds a BA in Fine Arts from the University of South Florida. Ms. Hurtt has been
a teacher in various Tampa studios for the past 20 years and we have been lucky to have her
as teacher, choreographer and mentor to our students for the past 8 years.
Caitlin Cassady, Pre-Ballet & Modern/Contemporary
Caitlin has been a student of Temple Terrace Ballet for 11 years and was also a member of the performing team for many years. She took part in the Sarasota Ballet Summer Intensive Camp in 2003 and has studied ballet and modern at the University of South Florida . She was a member of the King High School Lionettes, a competitive jazz, lyrical and hip hop dance team and is currently employed by Busch Gardens of Tampa Bay as a dancer. She was chosen to the 24-member USF Sundolls Dance Team, and the 11-member Sundoll College Competition Team. She is majoring in Psychology at the University of South Florida Honors Program and began her teaching career at Temple Terrace Ballet during the Fall of 2006. Product of T.T. Ballet. Busch Gardens Dancer & USF Sundoll. USF honors program student in the dept. of Psychology.
Gladys Barreto Brewer, Costumes & Wardrobe
Ms. Brewer has been in charge of the Temple Terrace Ballet costuming since our inception in 1992.
She is in charge of constantly updating our costumes, designing and making new costumes for the use
of the T. T. Ballet Team and our students recitals. Gladys was the recipient of Best Costume Award
at the 2002 and 2006 Starquest Competitions in Lakeland, Florida. She holds a BA in Psychology from USF.
